Abstract

Abstract: Education plays a crucial role in developing human potential, especially in honing children's basic skills such as reading, writing and arithmetic, but many of them face challenges in this regard. Factors such as lack of support from parents and teachers, lack of support from peers, and less effective learning methods are the main causes of this difficulty. This condition has resulted in many young people experiencing difficulties in achieving their maximum potential, especially in subjects such as mathematics, Indonesian and science. Without adequate support, students' interest in learning can be eroded and they are at risk of dropping out of school. Therefore, basic skills such as reading, writing and arithmetic are very crucial in developing children's insight and enthusiasm for learning. This research is intended to increase learning motivation and basic abilities in Kandangsapi Village, especially for elementary school students in grades 2-5. This activity was carried out at the Kandangsapi Village KKN Post using a qualitative research approach. The research subjects were children in the village, and data was collected through direct observation. Data collection methods include observation and non-test documentation. Data analysis was carried out qualitatively by presenting descriptive narratives to produce in-depth understanding. The research results show that motivation can improve children's learning skills and strengthen their enthusiasm in participating in learning activities. Abstrak: Pendidikan memainkan peran krusial dalam mengembangkan potensi manusia, terutama dalam mengasah keterampilan dasar anak-anak seperti membaca, menulis, dan berhitung, namun banyak dari mereka menghadapi tantangan dalam hal ini. Faktor-faktor seperti kurangnya dukungan dari orang tua dan guru, minimnya dukungan dari teman sebaya, serta metode pembelajaran yang kurang efektif menjadi penyebab utama kesulitan ini. Kondisi ini mengakibatkan banyak generasi muda mengalami kesulitan dalam mencapai potensi maksimalnya, terutama dalam mata pelajaran seperti matematika, bahasa Indonesia, dan sains. Tanpa dukungan yang memadai, minat belajar siswa dapat tergerus dan berisiko putus sekolah. Oleh karena itu, kemampuan dasar seperti membaca, menulis, dan berhitung sangat krusial dalam mengembangkan wawasan dan semangat belajar anak-anak. Penelitian ini dimaksudkan untuk meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan kemampuan dasar di Desa Kandangsapi, terutama untuk siswa SD kelas 2-5. Kegiatan ini dilakukan di Posko KKN Desa Kandangsapi dengan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif. Subjek penelitian adalah anak-anak di desa tersebut, dan data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung. Metode pengumpulan data mencakup observasi dan dokumentasi non-tes. Analisis data dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan menyajikan narasi deskriptif untuk menghasilkan pemahaman yang mendalam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi dapat meningkatkan keterampilan belajar anak-anak serta memperkuat antusiasme mereka dalam mengikuti kegiatan pembelajaran.
